Britney in Vegas!

I'm going to go see Britney when I'm in Las Vegas! I'm so excited!

I know. I've seen her once before. In my hometown. But when I went several years ago, I sat far, far away.

This time? I'm in the VIP section, in the FRONT ROW!

OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG!

I really want to have a good vacation when I go out to Las Vegas for my birthday this year. I've never seen a Vegas show (except for on TV), so I really wanted to see something that I would like and always remember.

For those that don't know, I am a HUGE Britney Spears fan. I have all of her albums, know pretty much ALL of the lyrics to her songs... and yes, I'm almost 38 years old and I DO NOT CARE WHAT ANYONE THINKS.

I just hope I have fun. I would have loved to be able to meet her backstage, but I don't have THAT much money. I have just enough to enjoy her close up. That's all that matters.

I can't wait until her new album, Glory comes out in a few days, too. Looking forward to it!

Suit and Tie

Just when I thought that JT would never make another album again, he surprised us all 2 weeks ago with this wonderful new song called "Suit and Tie".

I LOVE THIS SONG!

I don't care if anyone else doesn't. I think it's great!

I'm just happy that my #1 celebrity crush is doing what he does best again... making music.

I can't wait for his album to come out!

Top 5 Madonna Songs (in my book, of course)

As I was driving to work today and flipping through my iPod playlists, I decided that it had been too long since I last listened to Madonna, and started playing her greatest hits. I'm amazed at how this woman has had so many hits for so many years! She truly is a pop legend, and one of the best artists to to come out of the 80's.

I was inspired after hearing some of her hits to make a list of my top 5 Madonna songs. And the list goes:

1) Cherish, Like a Prayer, 1989: I don't know if it's because it's such a happy song about love, if it's the first video that I remember Madonna being buff in, or the fact that she had a cute curly haired kid running around the beach in a merman costume in the video as well - but this is my favorite song by her. It's got a good beat, too. Although this song never reached #1 on the charts, it's #1 in my book.

2) Vogue, I'm Breathless, 1990: Greta Garbo and Monroe, Dietrich and DiMaggio... this song and video brought "Vogueing" into the mainstream. And it's got great lyrics. And Madonna wore cone-shaped bras during this period of time in her career. Need I say more?

3) Die Another Day, American Life, 2002: American Life might have been Madonna's least liked album, but the kick-ass theme song to the James Bond film "Die Another Day" rocked in my book. I'll never forget the time when I went to see the movie in the theater, and they played this song so loud during the opening credits, that I thought that I was in the club getting my groove on! And I've loved this song ever since.

4) Take A Bow, Bedtime Stories, 1994: I remember hearing this song in high school and absolutely loving it. In my opinion, this one of Madonna's best ballads. Her voice sounds good on this track, she looked good in the video (the bull fighting theme was a little weird, though) and this hit plus good reviews for Bedtime Stories put her back on top, after taking a bit of a fall from the top after her Erotica album. I love love love this song.

5) Into the Groove, You Can Dance, 1987 (but first released in 1985 with the film "Desperately Seeking Susan"): Into the Groove, in my opinion, is one of Madonna's best dance tracks. Everytime I hear this song, I feel like busting out in dance wherever I am! The beats are great, the cool synthesizer sounds in the beginning are great, and I love it when she says "And You Can Dance... For Inspiration... Come On.... I'm waiting!" It makes me think I can dance. All day long.

Honorable Mention:

Music, Music, 2000: She rocked the VMA's with a performance of this song when she was doing those squats on stage. And she was over 40!

The Power Of Goodbye, Ray of Light, 1998: This song was used on the TV show "Felicity" and then was later included in the show's soundtrack. Enough said.

Open Your Heart, True Blue, 1986: True Blue is actually a really great dance album. And I love the video when Madonna is dancing with the little kid who was wearing suspenders. I wanted to be him and dance with her back in the day. Oh, and the song has a great beat too.

So those are my choices. I think that the next time I blog, I may do my top 5 favorite Janet Jackson songs. Until then!

It's Britney, bitch!

So this past Sunday night, Lisa, Miss Scarlet and I headed out and caught Britney Spears at the Verizon Center. We first went to Fago in Chinatown for food and some beer, and about an hour plus two Irish car bombs between me and Scarlet later, we headed out to the show.

Seriously, I must have truly forgotten what it was like to be under 21, as every girl that was at the concert was literally HALF NAKED! I've never seen so many short skirts, shorts and tops in my life. I mean, I wore a lot of that stuff when I was that age, but damn! I don't remember it being that short. I'm surprised that every girl I came across that night wasn't about to be accosted by some weirdo in the corner the moment I turned away from them.

Anyhoo, we caught the first act (Nervo and Jessie and the Boy Toys) which was ok. Lots of trancey beats and butt shaking with skimpy outfits. And then suddenly, out of nowhere (since I'm sitting on end of our row), I feel a huge splash of beer drop on my back. Some girl wasn't paying attention while walking by and just spilled it on me!

Luckily, none of it got into my hair, or I would have gotten up and chased her. Since it was on my clothes, I figured it would dry, so it wasn't too big of a deal. My hair would have been the dealbreaker though. That girl and I would have thrown down if my hair had gotten wet.

Nicki Minaj came on after that. I was surprised at how everyone knew EVERY last lyric to her songs. There were lots of people were running around with their pink wigs on, rapping. So funny. And then 45 minutes later, Britney came on. I heard some of my old school favorites such as "...Baby One More Time," "I'm A Slave 4 U," and "Boys", among other songs. She closed the show with "Toxic" and "'Till the World Ends".

All in all (with the exception of the beer incident), it was a good night and the show was really good. It went by quick, though, which was the only negative. I'm sure everyone else had a good time as well (especially since there was no arguing or hissy fits thrown during the event, lol). Who knows, maybe I'll go to see her again next year. We'll see. Not sure if I want to drop $70 on tickets again.
